Hurry up and Wait

We wanted to update you on our journey across the world. Thailand is doing well in the fight against this pandemic. The country underwent strict lockdown beginning in February 2020 and recently passed 50 days with no local transmission. Thailand’s measures to keep COVID-19 at bay are proving effective but have led to additional difficulties obtaining visas and approval into the country.

It has been over two weeks since we turned in the keys to our apartment and had hoped to be on an airplane. We efficiently filled our storage unit with the use of honed Tetris skills and are living a nomadic life, thankful to loved ones taking good care of us. We are doing our best to make the most of extra time with family and friends and have been keeping busy with projects, our favorite being speckling Mr. Preg’s garage floor!

Eager to Begin

Jonathan starts orientation on Thai time (11 hours ahead) this week. We will be developing a nocturnal lifestyle until we arrive in Bangkok. There is no current timeline for when we may apply for our visas, as the portal is down while the Royal Thai Embassy updates their entry requirements. It seems the goalpost moves farther away each week and as of now the logistics do not seem possible. Requirements to get a visa include an Alternative State Quarantine facility booking, requiring dates of arrival, repatriation flights booking, dependent on visa approval (15 business days after mailing passports), and entry numbers.

We are trying to remain hopeful and lean on the Lord for His perfect timing. Please pray for the visa process to resume soon, and our strength and patience in the waiting.
